Content: 

Definition and basic principles of bioreactors. Bioreactor design: stirred tank, immobilized biocatalytic reactors, pneumatically agitated bioreactors, membrane reactors, animal cell bioreactors, plant cell bioreactors, photobioreactors, solid state fermentor, bioreactor operation modes and scale-up stretagies. Analysis of batch, continuous and fed batch bioreactors, non-ideal effects. Bioreactor support system: sterilization and containmenrt, system supplies. Instrumentation and control: measurement of process variables, control systems, computer applications.
